The minimum pressure in Maria, however, was 947 mb which suggests that Maria still has the potential for stronger Cat 3 winds, especially while it remains over very warm \u00a0sea surface temperatures (SST).<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1508\" style=\"width: 310px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/oceanweatherservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Maria-SST.png\"><img aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1508\" decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1508\" src=\"http:\/\/oceanweatherservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Maria-SST-300x240.png\" alt=\"NOAA Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Anomaly \" width=\"300\" height=\"240\" srcset=\"https:\/\/oceanweatherservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Maria-SST-300x240.png 300w, https:\/\/oceanweatherservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Maria-SST-768x614.png 768w, https:\/\/oceanweatherservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Maria-SST-1024x819.png 1024w, https:\/\/oceanweatherservices.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/Maria-SST.png 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-1508\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">NOAA Sea Surface Temperature (SST) Anomaly<\/p><\/div>\n<p>Hurricane force winds currently extend outward 50 NM to the northeast and 35 NM to the southwest. \u00a0Damaging 50 knot (58 mph) or higher winds extend outward 100 NM to the northeast and 60 NM to the southwest.\u00a0 Maximum significant wave height is estimated at 42 feet (12.8 meters).<\/p>\n<p>Current movement is north-northwest at about 8 knots (9 mph) and this track should continue for another 48-72 hours.
